I like this advice a lot. It’s always good to let your ideas be known especially when you are an up-and-comer, but be sure to be agreeable and listen to your CD/senior designers as well. They know things that you really can’t know right out of school. Production and printing limitations to be the first that comes to mind.
I think Alison is great! I saw her at the AIGA conference in Memphis and I was really inspired by her work and the way she spoke about design. The advice that she gives about being passionate and to have a strong opinion is really important. If you show people that you love what you do and are excited about collaboration they have no choice but to react positively.

To date, all of the people on Humble Pied so far I know personally, have hung out with for a good period of time, maintain communication with, and have certainly been my mentors. (Which is why I asked them to share advice.) In the beginning, I even explain how I know each of our contributors.
Long story short: yes. I respect your opinion, and thanks for being open minded.
